Once upon a time there was a middle-aged man who was having a tough time. His father and mother, though great people, were both dead at this time, and he misses them. He had problems with his teenage children, economic problems and severe shortages in all the necessities of life hit the region where he lives. Just when it seems he was breaking through, he was asked to leave town and to make matters worse, it seems as if every time he accomplishes anything, someone else comes along and grabs what he’s worked hard for all his life. It’s enough to make anyone want to give up… then four words changed His life.
Genesis 26:24 recorded that ‘the LORD appeared to him the same night and said, I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants…’ My friend, this is the story of Isaac, but it may well be your story; middle aged, your parents gone, your family under stress and economic conditions haven forced you to move your family away from home so you could provide sufficiently for them. Just when things began to turn around, you become immersed in envy, the people around you resenting your success. If this is your story, if you could identify with this story somehow, and you are wondering what next: hear this – The Lord is saying I’m with you to bless you and to multiply your family.
Like Isaac, may you receive the strength to carry on until you reach your Rehoboth (place of enlargement)
